THE REASON FOR IT

Ribbed concrete steel in bars – rebars

The following submission, dated 1 July 2020, is being circulated at the request of the Delegation of the Republic of Serbia.

For transparency purposes, the Republic of Serbia hereby informs that a safeguard investigation has been initiated as follows:

1  Date when the investigation was initiated

The Government of the Republic of Serbia initiated the investigation on 26 June 2020. The Decision of Initiation of the investigation has been published in the Official Gazette of RS No. 92/20 on 29 June 2020.^[1]

2  Product subject to the investigation

The product subject to this investigation is ribbed concrete steel in bars – rebars currently classified within CN code 7214 20 00 00.

3  Reasons for the initiation of the investigation

Based on the information received from the domestic industry, it was preliminarily determined that the product concerned is being imported in increased quantities and under such conditions so as to cause or threaten to cause serious injury to domestic industry of the like or directly competitive product.

The investigation will determine whether the preconditions for adoption of safeguard measures exist.
