The following communication, dated 5 November 2024, is being circulated at the request of the delegation of the United States.

The United States would like to thank the Solomon Islands for its responses in G/VAL/Q/SLB/1 to the questions contained G/VAL/W/375. Responses indicate that the Solomon Islands is developing a new customs law and new valuation regulations. The United States will suspend questions related to Customs Valuation Act of 2009 while awaiting notification of any new legislation from the Solomon Islands. In the meantime, the United States would appreciate responses to the following questions in relation to the procedures for adopting these new measures:

 

Question 1

 

What opportunities will be available to traders and other interested parties to comment on the new customs law and valuation regulations that the Solomon Islands is in the process of developing? What procedures will be in place to receive comments? How long will commenters have to submit their comments?

 

Question 2

 

Does the Solomon Islands plan to notify the new measures under CVA Article 22?

 

Question 3

 

Does the Solomon Islands have an estimate of when these new measures will be available for review?
