The WTO Dialogue on Plastic
Pollution and Environmentally Sustainable Plastics Trade (DPP) held a Latin
America and the Caribbean (LAC) regions-focused workshop on Friday, 16 May
2025. It focused on the particular challenges and opportunities for the Latin
America and Caribbean region in addressing plastic pollution through enhanced
trade cooperation. Below, an informal brief on the discussions is provided for
informational purposes.
[1] This informal brief, prepared and circulated
under the coordinators' responsibility, is being shared to provide delegations
with a brief overview of the discussions and assist them in reporting back to
their capitals as well as to the Dialogue plenary meeting. It provides a
non-exhaustive, illustrative review of the issues addressed by Members and
stakeholders at the workshop. The DPP coordinators were Australia, Barbados,
China, Ecuador, Fiji and Morocco.
