Consultative Framework Mechanism on Cotton
held on 28 November 2024[1]

1  INTRODUCTION

1.1.  The 42nd round of the Director-General's Consultative Framework Mechanism on Cotton (DGCFMC) was held on 28 November 2024, under the chairpersonship of Deputy Director‑General (DDG) Jean-Marie Paugam on behalf of Director-General Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

1.2.  The meeting was conducted in a hybrid format, combining in-person and virtual participation. It brought together the C-4+[2], other WTO Members, relevant partner organizations, private sector representatives, and key experts from the global cotton community.

1.3.  The Chair welcomed participants to the 42nd round of the DGCFMC. He highlighted the significance of consultations on cotton development assistance and extended his gratitude to all attendees, with special thanks to the focal points from the C-4+ countries who had travelled from their respective capitals.

1.4.  The Chair emphasized that the objective of the meeting was to take stock of the current situation and build on the existing momentum to progress further. He highlighted the importance of focusing discussions on concrete actions to achieve meaningful outcomes.

1.5.  The agenda of the meeting was adopted as proposed.
