1  INTRODUCTION

1.1.  The 38th Round of the Director-General's Consultative Framework Mechanism on Cotton (DGCFMC) took place on 10 November 2022 under the chairpersonship of Deputy Director‑General (DDG) Xiangchen Zhang on behalf of Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

1.2.  The meeting was held in a hybrid format (in-person and virtual participation) and was attended by the Cotton-4 (C-4)[2], other WTO Members, relevant partner organizations, and key experts from the global cotton community.

1.3.  The Chair noted that the DGCFMC meeting would be followed by a roundtable entitled "The current market situation for fertilizers and viable alternatives for cotton production", chaired by DDG Jean-Marie Paugam and moderated by Ms. Marième Fall, Officer-in-Charge of the WTO Agriculture and Commodities Division (AGCD).
