Brief description of the notified legal text

The Australian Government introduced the Australian Skills Guarantee (Skills Guarantee) Procurement Connected Policy, effective from 1 July 2024, to help address skills shortages and gender segregation in the construction and ICT sectors.

The Skills Guarantee introduced national targets for apprentices, trainees and paid cadets on Commonwealth procurements in the construction and ICT sectors, where the estimated individual value is 10 million AUD or more. In addition, the Skills Guarantee introduced national targets for women to increase the proportion of women working on major construction and ICT projects and drive long term sustainable change to reduce gender segregation in the apprenticeship system.
