The Waste
Disposal Ordinance (Cap. 354, laws of HKSAR) has been amended to implement
relevant amendments to the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary
Movement of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal ("Basel Convention")
regarding the control of transboundary movements of electrical and electronic
waste ("EEW"). With the restriction on EEW under the Waste Disposal
Ordinance entering into force on 1 January 2025, item 25 under Section 1, the sixteenth item under Section 2.4B and their relevant
hyperlinks in _G/MA/QR/N/HKG/7 are updated as set out in this notification.

The restriction is administered through a
permit system for the export of waste on an MFN basis in accordance with Hong
Kong, China (HKC)'s obligations under the Basel Convention on the Control of
Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal, and to ensure
environmentally sound management of waste in Hong Kong.
Glass
container waste export control ensures that glass container wastes export
from Hong Kong will be controlled and disposed of in a proper and
environmentally sound manner.
Import licensing procedures can be found
in Section 2.4.
