Description of content: The notified Resolution temporarily suspends the issuance of animal health import documents for live birds, genetic material, products and by-products at risk of transmitting high pathogenicity avian influenza, coming from the Kingdom of Spain.

Nature of the urgent problem(s) and reason for urgent action: Pursuant to Chapter 10.4 of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), Colombia has declared itself free from high pathogenicity avian influenza since 2011. This status was updated in line with the new format recommended by WOAH and was republished on 5 April 2024. However, on 18 July 2025, WOAH was officially notified of an outbreak of high pathogenicity avian influenza in Spain, detected on 16 July 2025, specifically on a commercial fattening turkey farm and a breeding hen farm.

In the light of the highly contagious nature of this disease and the risk posed to national poultry farming, it is necessary to adopt measures to preserve the country's sanitary status, protect poultry production and prevent the entry and spread of the pathogen.
