Is there
a relevant international standard? If so, identify the standard:
[X] Codex Alimentarius Commission (e.g. title or serial number of Codex standard or related text):
Codex Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides and Extraneous Maximum
Residue Limits in Foods and Feeds
[ ] World Organization for Animal Health
(OIE) (e.g. Terrestrial or Aquatic Animal Health Code,
chapter number):
[ ] International Plant Protection
Convention (e.g. ISPM number):
[ ] None
Does this proposed regulation conform to the relevant international
standard?
[ ] Yes [X] No
If no,
describe, whenever possible, how and why it deviates from the international
standard: Some proposed residue
limits may differ from maximum residue limits standards of Codex. The
scientific methodology adopted to establish MRLs in China is consistent with
international common practice. Members set MRLs in accordance with the good
agricultural practice (GAP), which is applicable to their respective
conditions. Since the pests and environmental factors vary in different
producing regions and members, they may choose different use-patterns of
pesticides. Therefore, Chinese MRLs for pesticides in foods may differ from
Codex standards.
