Description of content: The Republic of Korea is proposing to amend the "Standards for Recognition of Temporary Standard and Specifications for Foods".

The regulations on applying for temporary standards and specifications of new food additives have been improved as following;

1)_    The safety evaluation report of the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) will be accepted as a toxicity test documents on the submission for temporary standards and specifications of food additives;

2)_    Applicant have to submit repeated-dose 90-day oral toxicity study and genotoxicity test data and then if there are safety concerns, additional toxicity test data will be required;

3)_    The ingredients and mixing ratio will be included in the scope of change for food additives that have already been recognized as temporary standards and specifications but have no safety issues.
