NEW AND FULL NOTIFICATION PURSUANT TO ARTICLE XVII:4(A) OF THE
GATT 1994 AND PARAGRAPH 1 OF THE UNDERSTANDING ON
THE INTERPRETATION OF ARTICLE XVII

The following communication, dated 15 March 2024 and received on 19 March 2024, is being circulated at the request of the delegation of Macao, China.

The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region presents its compliments to the Council for Trade in Goods and is pleased to refer to Article XVII:4(a) of the GATT 1994 and paragraph 1 of the Understanding on the Interpretation of Article XVII of the GATT 1994.

Pursuant to the above-mentioned provisions, the Government of the Macao SAR wishes to notify that in 2022 and 2023 Macao, China has not maintained any state trading enterprise in accordance with the working definition contained in Paragraph 1 of the aforesaid Understanding.
