Special Agricultural Safeguard

Revision
1.1. This paper is a revision of the paper circulated on 20 October 2016
and provides updated information regarding the potential application and the
use of the special agricultural safeguard (SSG). The paper takes into account
the notifications by Members received by the Secretariat between 1 January 2004
and 1 June 2016.[2]
1.2. According to the Notification Requirements and Formats (G/AG/2),
Members having reserved the right in their Schedules to take recourse, in
respect of certain products, to the Special Safeguard Provisions (Article 5 of
the Agreement on Agriculture) are required:

information for the period 1995-2004. Changes in tariff classification resulted
in differences in the number of scheduled SSG entitlements reported, as
compared to document TN/AG/S/12.
