PERU'S NON-APPLICATION OF REGIONALIZATION
FOR AFRICAN SWINE FEVER (PCE No. 544)
COMMUNICATION FROM PERU
The following communication, received on 8
July 2024, is being circulated at the request of the delegation of Peru.

1. Peru
thanks the European Union for its comments and wishes to emphasize, once again,
that it is respectful of all the provisions of the WTO SPS Agreement.
2. We
would also like to mention that, on 30 May 2024, a bilateral meeting was held
with representatives of the Directorate General for Trade of the European
Commission (DG Trade) in Lima, Peru.
3. During
the meeting, the various questions raised by the aforementioned delegation were
addressed, and we reiterated our respect for the commitments undertaken within
the framework of the World Organisation for Animal Health and the principle of
regionalization established under the WTO SPS Agreement and the bilateral trade
agreement in force.
4. In
this regard, Peru wishes to express its willingness to pursue the dialogue and
exchange of information on this matter.
