The
following communication, dated and received on 14 November 2024, is being
circulated at the request of the delegation of the United Kingdom.

Pursuant to Article 12.1(a) of the WTO
Agreement on Safeguards, the United Kingdom notifies the initiation of a
discontinuation review by the Trade Remedies Authority ("TRA" – the
United Kingdom's competent authority) relating to the safeguard measure on certain
steel products.
The review will consider whether it would be
appropriate to revoke the application of the measure in respect of product
category 2, non-alloy and other alloy cold-rolled sheets.
1. Specify the date when the reviews were
initiated
The TRA initiated the review on 11 November
2024.

3. Provide the reasons for the initiation of the
review
The TRA initiated the review following an
application from industry which indicated a lasting change in circumstances
since the application of the definitive safeguarding remedy.
The
information provided in the application also indicated that as a result of the
lasting change in circumstances, UK producers would cease to suffer serious
injury if the safeguarding remedy were revoked.

5. Provide the deadlines and procedures for
importers, exporters and other interested parties to present evidence and their
views, including (i) deadlines and procedures for Members and exporters to
identify themselves as interested parties, if so required, to participate in
the proceeding, and (ii) the date of an intended public hearing as provided for
in Article 3.1
