Communication from Myanmar

Addendum

The following Statement under Article 15.2 of the TBT Agreement has been received from the delegation of Myanmar.

1.  The Ministry of Education of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar is the central government authority that is responsible for the implementation at the national level of the provisions concerning notification procedures as per Article 10.10 of the TBT Agreement.

2.  The Department of Research and Innovation (DRI) is the national standardization body of the Republic on the Union of Myanmar. DRI ensures that preparation and adoption of national standards and conformity assessment procedures are in line with international standards and relevant guidelines where they exist in accordance the WTO TBT Agreement.

3.  The Department of Research and Innovation (DRI) has been designated as the national enquiry point for TBT by the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar as per Article 10.3 of the TBT Agreement.

4.  All enquiries about Myanmar standards from Members and requests for draft of existing and proposed standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures notified by Myanmar are being responded by the national enquiry point.

5.  Technical regulations are adopted by relevant ministries of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and they are notified to WTO Members through above mentioned notification mechanism.
