Committee on Regional Trade Agreements - Notification from the EAEU member states

NOTIFICATION FROM THE EAEU MEMBER STATES

The following communication, dated 25 July 2025, is being circulated at the request of the EAEU Member States that are WTO Members (Armenia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation).

        The Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) that are WTO Members (the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation) have the honour to inform the Members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) that the Interim Agreement leading to formation of a free trade area between the Eurasian Economic Union and its Member States, of the one part, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, of the other part, which was notified to the WTO under Article XXIV of GATT 1994[1], has been terminated as of the May 15, 2025 – date of the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and its Member States, of the one part, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, of the other part (FTA), signed on December 25, 2023.

The trade relations of the EAEU Member States with the Islamic Republic of Iran will now be governed by the FTA. [2]

 

The EAEU Member States are Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation.
