covered: Domestic safety (ICS 13.120), Domestic electrical
appliances in general (ICS 97.030).
This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial
Decree No. 246 /2025 (5 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and
importers a twelve-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard
ES 1781 "Safety requirements for household and similar electrical
appliance- General requirements" (267 pages, in Arabic).
It should be noted that the Ministerial Decree No. 171/2020
(2 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in _G/TBT/N/EGY/233/Add.1 dated 4 June 2020 mandated among
others the earlier version of this Standard and the draft of this standard was
formerly notified in _G/TBT/N/EGY/233 dated 12 November 2019 and _G/TBT/N/EGY/233/Add.2 dated 18 December 2024.
Worth mentioning is that this standard is technically
identical with modification with IEC 60335-1:2020.
Producers and importers are kept informed of any amendments
in the Egyptian standards through the publication of administrative orders in
the official gazette.
Proposed date of adoption: 11 August 2025.
Proposed date of entry into force: The day following the
date of publication in the official gazette.
