Description of content: This Rwanda standard prescribes the recommended procedure for the handling, collection, transportation and disposal of Municipal Solid Waste including household (domestic) waste and non-household waste (including commercial waste, non-hazardous industrial waste, restaurants and shops, hotels, markets, schools, offices and public spaces,) to ensure safety of operatives, passers-by, animals and the environment.

This standard does not cover waste from health-care units covered in RS 209, construction and demolition waste covered in RS 367, Electrical and Electronic wastes (E-waste) covered by RS 276 (Part 1 and 2) and safe management for solid waste disposal sites covered by RS 180.
