Description
of content: Regulation (EC)
1333/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2008
on food additives was adopted in Israel as part of Amendment No. 10 to the
Public Health Protection (Food) Law, 5776 - 2015 (notified in
G/TBT/N/ISR/1332/Rev.1), and appears in item 8 of the Second Annex A to the
Law. This EC Regulation was applied in full, in addition to the exceptions as
stated in Section 3A(a1) to (a5) of the Law.
On 14 May
2025, a notice was published in Israel's Official Gazette, which applied in
Israel 3 changes that had already entered into force in the European Union up
until December 16, 2024.
It is now
proposed to apply in full further changes to the adopted Regulation (EC)
1333/2008, which have been or will be applied in the European Union. The main
point of this notice relates to the conditions of use of the following food
additives:
1._
Updates on the
use of mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids (E 471) and carnauba wax (E 903)
as glazing agents on certain fresh fruit and cassavas and of lecithins (E
322) and fatty acids (E 570) as carriers in glazing agents on cassavas -
adoption of (EU) 2025/651 -
Proposed date of entry into force 25 August 2025;
2._
Update the
union list regarding the use of Steviol glycosides produced by fermentation
using Yarrowia lipolytica - adoption of (EU) 2025/652 -
Proposed date of entry into force 25 August 2025;
3._
Update the
union list as regards the use of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, cellulose
gum (E 466) - adoption of (EU) 2025/666 - Proposed date of entry
into force 27 April 2027;
4._
Update the
union list as regards the use of sodium ascorbate (E 301) in vitamin A
preparations intended for infant formula and follow-on formula - adoption of (EU) 2025/1150 -
Proposed date of entry into force 25 August 2025.
