Description of content: The EPA is proposing to revoke the approval for chlorthal-dimethyl containing substances because there are non-negligible risks to human health and the environment that cannot be sufficiently mitigated through restrictions, and the risks outweigh the benefits.

The EPA therefore proposes immediate revocation of the approval from the date of the decision with a six-month timeframe for disposal. Prohibition on the use of the substance is proposed during the six month timeframe for disposal.

The assessment of risks, benefits and the proposed revocation of the approval are detailed in the application and staff assessment report.

Proposed date of entry into force: To be determined; Dates for consideration and a decision are not confirmed but are projected for early February 2026.

For this particular application, proposed date of adoption and date of entry into force will coincide and occur at the same time since an immediate ban is proposed from decision date due to significant impacts on human health.

It should be noted that this is EPA's proposal and final decision will be made by independent decision-making committee.
