MULTI-PARTY INTERIM APPEAL ARBITRATION ARRANGEMENT

PURSUANT TO ARTICLE 25 OF THE DSU

The Permanent Mission of the United Kingdom to the World Trade Organization presents its compliments to the World Trade Organization’s Dispute Settlement Body and refers to the Multi‑Party Interim Appeal Arbitration Arrangement (MPIA) pursuant to Article 25 of the Dispute Settlement Understanding, as set out in document _JOB/DSB/1/Add.12 dated 30 April 2020.

The United Kingdom supports the objectives of the MPIA and reaffirms its commitment to achieving a fully and well-functioning dispute settlement system accessible to all Members. The United Kingdom emphasises the importance of reaching agreement on dispute settlement reform that delivers compulsory, binding and impartial dispute settlement that can secure positive solutions to disputes and can command the support of Members. The United Kingdom looks forward to further discussions with the Membership to achieve that objective. In accordance with paragraph 12 of the MPIA document referenced above, the United Kingdom hereby joins the Arrangement as of the date of this communication.

The Permanent Mission of the United Kingdom to the World Trade Organization takes this opportunity to convey to the Dispute Settlement Body the assurances of its highest consideration.
