THEMATIC SESSION ON MEASURES TO ENSURE THE IMPLEMENTATION
AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE TBT AGREEMENT:
NOTIFICATIONS UNDER ARTICLE 15.2

TENTH TRIENNIAL REVIEW

Proposal from Paraguay

The following communication, dated 30 May 2024, is being circulated at the request of the delegation
of Paraguay.

_______________

BACKGROUND

1.1.  Under Article 15.2 of the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade, each Member shall inform the Committee of measures in existence or taken to ensure the implementation and administration of this Agreement, and of any changes of such measures thereafter.

1.2.  At the meeting of the Committee held from 13 to 15 March 2024, the Chair noted that 19 Members had not submitted notifications with the information required under Article 15.2, and that the date of many of the notifications received might mean that the information was out of date for a number of Members.

1.3.  The Committee recently adopted a series of guidelines for submitting these notifications (_G/TBT/55), which have been incorporated into the ePing platform.

1.4.  Given the importance of transparency and of having this information, as well as the recent adoption of guidelines for submitting these notifications, it would be useful to deepen discussions in this regard.

PROPOSAL

2.1.  Paraguay proposes holding a thematic session to analyse the information notified by Members, in which Members can share national experiences with respect to submitting notifications, and their national structures for implementing and administering the TBT Agreement.
