Reform of the committee on Trade-related investment measures
(the Trims Committee)

ITEMS AGREED BY THE COMMITTEE

The TRIMs Committee has been engaged in the discussion on the issue of the Better Functioning of the Subsidiary Bodies of the Council for Trade in Goods ("CTG"), under the auspices of the CTG.

On 1 August 2023, the Committee adopted two improvements to its functioning, to be implemented on a trial basis starting from the regular meeting of the Committee on 12 October 2023:

1._         That minutes of regular Committee meetings would be prepared in verbatim style, on a trial basis.

2._         That the Chair would circulate a factual summary of Committee meetings, on a trial basis, starting with the next regular meeting of the Committee.

At the regular meeting held on 10 October 2024, the Chairperson of the Committee asked Members whether these improvements should be made permanent. No objection was received from the floor so the Committee adopted these changes as permanent.

On the same date, the Committee agreed to explore via a written procedure Members' views regarding the use of the eAgenda tool on a trial basis, with the default option for uploading Members' statements to the eAgenda platform to be as follows: "WTO Secretariat (including interpreters) immediately and automatically to all Members at the end of the submission period".

The trial period would start with the preparation of Spring 2025 meeting of the Committee, to be held on 27 March 2025.

A communication to that effect was sent to Members on 11 October 2024. No comments or objections were received by the set deadline of 15 October 2024. Thus, the TRIMs Committee is deemed to have agreed to the implementation of the eAgenda tool, in the above mentioned manner, on a trial basis.
