DECISION TO EXTEND A SAFEGUARD MEASURE
BY TÜRKIYE AGAINST IMPORTS OF
POLYESTER STAPLE FIBERS

REQUEST FOR CONSULTATIONS UNDER ARTICLE 12.3 OF
THE AGREEMENT ON SAFEGUARDS

The following communication, dated and received on 12 October 2024 is being circulated at the request of the delegation of India.

The Committee on Safeguards has circulated to WTO members the notification No. _G/SG/N/10/TUR/19/Suppl.1 - _G/SG/N/11/TUR/26/Suppl.1 - _G/SG/N/14/TUR/13 dated 24 September 2024 by the Türkiye concerning a decision to extend a safeguard measure that is being applied against imports of polyester staple fibers and non-application of the safeguard measure to developing countries.

As a member having a substantial trade interest in the export of products concerned, India hereby requests consultations with Türkiye pursuant to Article 12.3 of the Agreement on Safeguards with view to reviewing the information provided under Article 12.2 and exchanging views on the extension of the measures.

India would like to propose that consultations mentioned above take place virtually on 17  October or 18 October  2024 or on a mutually convenient date and time.

India reserves all its rights under the agreement establishing the World Trade Organization and its Annexes, including the Agreement on Safeguards.
