Brief description of the Agreement: 

The New Zealand – United Arab Emirates (UAE) Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) establishes a free trade area for trade in goods and services within the meaning of GATT 1994 Article XXIV and GATS Article V.

 

The Agreement contains provisions on (a) trade in goods; (b) rules of origin and origin procedures; (c) customs and trade facilitation; (d) sanitary and phytosanitary measures; (e) technical barriers to trade; (f) investment facilitation; (g) trade in services; (h) digital trade; (i) government procurement; (j) competition; (k) intellectual property; (l) trade and sustainable development; (m) indigenous trade and economic cooperation; (n) small and medium-sized enterprises; (o) economic cooperation; (p) transparency, (q) general provisions and exceptions; (r) institutional provisions; and (s) dispute settlement.

 

The Agreement contains schedules of commitments for trade in goods and services.

The Agreement establishes a Joint Committee to oversee its implementation.
