COMMUNICATION FROM THE CHAIRMAN
Delegations are hereby informed that the next meeting of the TRIMs Committee, which had been tentatively scheduled for 3-4 April 2003, will take place later in the year on a date to be announced in due course.
As Members are aware, at its meeting of 12-13 March 2003 the Council for Trade in Goods endorsed the nomination of Mr. Sivaramen Palayathan of Mauritius as the new Chairman of the Committee on Trade-Related Investment Measures. Pending his formal election at the first meeting of the TRIMs Committee this year, I would propose that Mr. Palayathan takes up his duties with immediate effect on an ad interim basis. I would also like to propose that the election of the Chair be placed as the first item of the proposed agenda of the next meeting of the TRIMs Committee.
If no objections to this proposal are received by myself or the Secretariat (Ms. Lara) before 28 March 2003, I would take it that the TRIMs Committee agrees to proceed as above.

Les délégations sont informées que la prochaine réunion du Comité des MIC, qui avait été provisoirement fixée aux 3 4 avril 2003, aura lieu plus tard dans l'année à une date qui sera annoncée en temps voulu.
Comme les Membres le savent, à sa réunion des 12 et 13 mars 2003 le Conseil du commerce des marchandises a approuvé la nomination de M. Sivaramen Palayathan (Maurice) en tant que nouveau Président du Comité des mesures concernant les investissements et liées au commerce. En attendant qu'il soit formellement élu à la première réunion du Comité des MIC cette année, je propose que M. Palayathan assume ses fonctions avec effet immédiat sur une base ad interim.
