Description: On 26 June 2023, the National Environment Agency notified the WTO via G/TBT/N/SGP/70 of the proposed amendments to Singapore's Mandatory Energy Labelling Scheme (MELS) and Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS). This addendum seeks to notify Members that the measures that will enter into force in 2024, viz.: (a) the extension of MEPS and MELS to portable air-conditioners from 1 April 2024; (b) the revision of MEPS and MELS for regulated lamps and extension of these requirements to more lamp types from 1 April 2024; (c) the extension of MEPS and standby power requirements to televisions (with resolution less than 33,177,600 pixels) from 1 April 2024; and (d) the revision of test standards applicable for new and renewal registrations in line with latest editions of international standards from 1 January 2024, have been finalised and published as the Energy Conservation (Prescribed Regulated Goods) (Amendment) Order 2023 and the Energy Conservation (Regulated Goods and Registered Suppliers) (Amendment) Regulations 2023.

The remaining measures which will enter into force from 1 April 2025, viz.: (a) the extension of MEPS and standby power requirements to televisions (with resolution of 33,177,600 pixels); (b) the revision of MEPS for split-type air-conditioners; and (c) the revision of MEPS for refrigerators, will be finalised and published in due course.
