Indonesia – importation of horticultural
products,
animals and animal products
Status Report regarding implementation of
the dsb recommendations and rulings
by Indonesia
Addendum
The following communication, dated 17 July
2023, from the delegation of Indonesia to the Chairperson of the Dispute
Settlement Body, is circulated pursuant to Article 21.6 of the DSU.
_______________
Indonesia provides a status report
in these disputes in accordance with Article 21.6 of the DSU.
In the effort
to bring its measures into compliance with the DSB's rulings and
recommendations, on 31 March 2023, Indonesia passed Law No. 6/2023 on the
Stipulation of the Government Regulation in lieu of Law No. 2/2022 on Job
Creation to reinforce the revocation of measure on self-sufficiency.
Furthermore,
Indonesia also reiterates that relevant and significant amendments have been
taken into effect to the Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Trade Regulations
administering measures 1-17, resulting in the removal of measures at issue,
including harvest period restriction, import realization requirement, six-month
harvest requirement, reference price, and domestic purchase requirement.
Referring to
its previous statement, Indonesia would again like to highlight that Commodity
Balance would serve as a tool mechanism to provide comprehensive, accurate, and
reliable data through an integrated national database system. We truly believe
that this mechanism is part of Indonesia's effort to enhance the ease of doing
business, streamline import approval procedures, and facilitate trade in
transparent manner.
Indonesia
remains ready to engage with New Zealand and the United States with the aim of
reaching amicable solutions for these disputes.
