The following communication, dated 9 November 2022, is being circulated at the
request of the delegation of Türkiye.

Title: Turkish Food Codex Communiqué on Sugar
Description: Turkish
Food Codex Communiqué on Sugar which was notified through G/TBT/N/TUR/121 on 13
August 2018 has been entered into force on 20 August 2022.
The
main difference between the Communiqué that entered into force in 2022 and the
draft Communiqué notified in 2018 is related to article 10 (1)-I, which is
about referring to the aforementioned communique's Article 4 (1), subparagraphs
(b), (c), (d), (e) and (ğ). Thus, the article indicates that the source from
which [sugars are] obtained shall be written in parentheses following the
product names. The same applies if these products are used as ingredients in
the composition of a food.
Food
establishment operators operating before the publication date of this
Communique are obliged to comply with the provisions of this Communiqué until
31/12/2024.
Products
labelled or placed on the market before the date of 31/12/2024 may be available
on the market until the end of their shelf life.
The
provisions of the Turkish Food Codex Sugar Communique (Communique No: 2006/40),
which has been repealed, shall apply to food establishment operators operating
before the publication date of this Communiqué until they comply with the
provisions of this Communiqué.
