Description of content: The notified Regulation seeks to establish the minimum seasonal
energy efficiency ratio (SEER), test methods, conformity assessment procedure
and labelling requirements for split-type, free-flow, ductless air
conditioners (known as mini-split and multi-split air conditioners), whether
simple cycle (only cold) or reverse cycle (heat pump) which are manufactured,
imported or marketed in the States parties.
The Regulation applies to split-type,
free-flow, ductless air conditioners (known as mini-split and multi-split air
conditioners), whether simple cycle (only cold) or reverse cycle (heat pump),
with air-cooled condensers, powered by electricity, with nominal cooling
capacities of up to 19,050W (65,000 BTU), which operate by mechanical
compression.
It applies only to systems marketed in the States parties that use
one or more simple refrigeration circuits and that have an evaporator and a
condenser.
The following devices are excluded from the
scope of this Technical Regulation:
(a) Water-source heat pumps
(b) Units designed for use with additional
ducting
(c) Mobile units (not window-type) with a
condenser exhaust duct
(d) Units with variable speed or variable
frequency compressor (inverters and equipment with different stages of
cooling capacity) and/or variable refrigerant flow
(e) Units with a variable frequency compressor
and/or variable refrigerant flow, known as inverters
(f) Air conditioners with two-speed
compressors
(g) Units designed for use with additional
ducting
(h) Units with a variable frequency compressor
and/or variable refrigerant flow, known as Inverters
(i) Air conditioners with two-speed compressors
(j) Household goods
(k) Samples of no commercial value, depending
on each State party's procedure
Note: Items (j) and (k) do not apply to
Honduras.
