China – Tariff rate Quotas for Certain Agricultural Products

modification of the Agreement under Article 21.3(b) of the DSU

The following communication, dated 17 March 2020, from the delegation of the United States and the delegation of China to the Chairperson of the Dispute Settlement Body, is circulated in accordance with Article 21.3(b) of the DSU.

With regard to the dispute China – Tariff Rate Quotas for Certain Agricultural Products (DS517), we wish to inform you that the People’s Republic of China and the United States of America have mutually agreed to modify the previously notified reasonable period of time for China to implement the recommendations and rulings of the  Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) pursuant to Article 21.3(b) of the Understanding on Rules and Procedures Governing the Settlement of Disputes so as to expire on May 29, 2020.  This extension will allow the United States additional time to evaluate China's compliance measures.
