Communication from Thailand

The following communication, dated 30 September 2016, from the delegation of Thailand to the delegation of China, the delegation of the United States and to the Chairperson of the Dispute Settlement Body, is circulated in accordance with Article 4.11 of the DSU.

Pursuant to Article 4.11 of the Understanding on Rules and Procedures Governing the Settlement of Disputes (DSU), Thailand hereby notifies its desire to join in the consultations requested by the United States in a communication circulated to WTO Members on 20 September 2016 WT/DS511/1, G/AG/GEN/135, G/L/1150 entitled China – Domestic Support for Agricultural Producers.

Thailand is one of the major global exporter of rice and maintains important trade relation with both China and the United States. In 2015, in terms of rice, Thailand exports 4,544 billion USD globally.

A copy of this letter is being sent to the Chairman of the Dispute Settlement Body, with a request that it be circulated to Members. Thailand looks forward to being informed of the date and venue of the consultations.
