Communication from Chinese Taipei

The following communication, dated 10 June 2015, from the delegation of Chinese Taipei to the delegation of Indonesia, the delegation of Viet Nam and to the Chairperson of the Dispute Settlement Body, is circulated in accordance with Article 4.11 of the DSU.

I wish to refer to the consultations requested by Viet Nam in the communication circulated to WTO Members on 3 June 2015 (WT/DS496/1, G/L/1118, G/SG/D48/1) titled Indonesia - Safeguard on Certain Iron or Steel Products.

Pursuant to Article 4.11 of the Understanding on Rules and Procedures Governing the Settlement of Disputes, the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu notifies the consulting Members and the Dispute Settlement Body of its desire to be joined in these consultations.

The exportation of relevant products from the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu has been negatively affected by the measures referred to in the request for consultations. Therefore, the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu has a substantial trade interest in these consultations.

The Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu looks forward to receiving confirmation of acceptance of this request, as well as advice regarding the time and venue for these consultations.
