Communication from Indonesia

The following communication, dated 14 November 2014, from the delegation of Indonesia to the delegation of the Russian Federation, the delegation of the European Union and to the Chairperson of the Dispute Settlement Body, is circulated in accordance with Article 4.11 of the DSU.

Pursuant to Article 4.11 of the Understanding on Rules and Procedures Governing the Settlement of Disputes (DSU), the Government of Indonesia notifies the Russian Federation, the Dispute Settlement Body, and the European Union of its desire to be joined in the consultations requested by the European Union in Russia – Tariff Treatment of Certain Agricultural and Manufacturing Products, as set out in the communication circulated to WTO Members on 4 November 2014 (WT/DS485/1, G/L/1080, G/VAL/D/13).

Indonesia has a substantial trade interest in this dispute as a producer and exporter of palm oil to the Russian Federation that are also subject to Decision No. 54 of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission on the Common Customs Tariff Regulation of the Custom Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation which was enter into force on 23 August 2012 as amended by subsequent acts.
