Communication
from Thailand
The following communication, dated
18 September 2013, from the delegation of Thailand to the delegation
of Indonesia, the delegation of New Zealand and to the Chairperson of the
Dispute Settlement Body, is circulated in accordance with Article 4.11 of
the DSU.
_______________
Pursuant to Article XXII of the General
Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994 ("GATT 1994")
and Article 4.11 of the Understanding
on Rules and Procedures Governing the Settlement of Disputes ("DSU"),
the Kingdom of Thailand hereby notifies the consulting Members and the Dispute
Settlement Body of its desire to be joined in the consultations in the above‑captioned
dispute, which were requested by New Zealand in a communication circulated
to WTO Members on 9 September 2013, as document WT/DS466/1,
G/L/1038, G/AG/GEN/113, G/LIC/D/46, G/PSI/D/2.
Thailand is one of the largest exporters to Indonesia of the
horticultural products at issue in this dispute. The measures referred to in
the request for consultations have been applied to Thai horticultural
exports to Indonesia. Thus, Thailand has a substantial trade interest in the
consultations.
Thailand looks forward to receiving confirmation of receipt and
acceptance of this request, as well as advice regarding the time and venue for
these consultations.
