Request to Join Consultations
Communication from the Republic of Korea
The following communication, dated 21 October 1996, from the Permanent Mission of the
Republic of Korea to the Permanent Mission of Indonesia, the Permanent Delegation of the European
Commission and to the Dispute Settlement Body, is circulated in accordance with Article 4.11 of the
DSU.

Pursuant to the procedures laid down in Article 4.11 of the Understanding on Rules and
Procedures Governing the Settlement of Disputes (DSU), my Government wishes to be joined in the
consultations under Article XXII:1 of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994 et al. requested
by the European Community regarding certain automotive industry measures of Indonesia. The European
Community's request was circulated to the WTO Members on 14 October 1996 (WT/DS54/1).
Given Korea's substantial trade interest in these consultations, we look forward to receiving
a positive response to this request.
