Communication from Mexico

            The following communication, dated 27 January 1998, from the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the Permanent Mission of Chile, to the Permanent Delegation of the European Commission and to the Dispute Settlement Body, is circulated in accordance with Article 4.11 of the DSU.

        I have been instructed by my authorities to notify you that, pursuant to Article 4.11 of the Dispute Settlement Understanding and owing to its substantial trade interest in the matter, Mexico wishes to be joined in the consultations under Article XXII of GATT 1994 requested with Chile by the United States and the European Communities, respectively, (documents WT/DS109/1 of 16 December 1997 and WT/DS110/1 of 18 December 1997).
