This letter is sent to you on behalf of the Governments of the Republic of Argentina and the United States of America and relates to the matter of Argentina - Measures Affecting Imports of Footwear, Textiles, Apparel and Other Items.  We take note that on 22 April, the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) adopted the Panel and Appellate Body reports in the above-referenced disputes, and of the discussion pursuant to Article 21-3 of the Understanding on Rules and Procedures governing the Settlement of Disputes (DSU) at the 30 July 1997 meeting of the DSB (see WT/DSB/M/36, page 9-10).  We agree that instead of making its statement at a meeting of the DSB as anticipated by Article 21.3 of the DSU, Argentina will inform the DSB by 22 May 1998 of its intentions in respect of implementation of the DSB's 22 April 1998 rulings and recommendations.  Argentina and the United States agree that their respective rights and obligations are preserved through this approach, as if a meeting under Article 21.3 of the DSU had been held.
