UNITED STATES - IMPOSITION OF
ANTI-DUMPING DUTIES
ON IMPORTS OF COLOUR TELEVISION
RECEIVERS FROM KOREA
Request to Join Consultations
Communication from Thailand
The following
communication, dated 25 July 1997, from the Permanent Mission of Thailand to
the Permanent Mission of Korea, the Permanent Mission of the United States and
to the Dispute Settlement Body, is circulated in accordance with Article 4.11
of the DSU.
_______________
With reference to the
request for consultation with the United States by the Republic of Korea on
"The Imposition of Anti-Dumping Duties on Imports of Colour Television
Receivers from Korea" (WT/DS89/1) and pursuant to paragraph 11 of
Article 4 of the Understanding on Rules and Procedures Governing the Settlement
of Disputes, the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the World Trade Organization
has the honour to request that it join in this consultation.
Thailand has a substantial
interest in this consultation because in 1994 and 1995 Thailand exported more
than US$273 million and US$173 million worth of colour television receivers to
the United States. Thailand has
also been referred to in the Republic of Korea's request for consultations as
one of the affected exporters of colour television receivers.
Therefore, Thailand would
like the United States to consider the request favourably and reply as soon as
possible.
