        The following communication, dated 18 July 1997, from the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the Permanent Mission of Korea, the Permanent Mission of the United States and to the Dispute Settlement Body, is circulated in accordance with Article 4.11 of the DSU.

        I have been instructed by my authorities to inform you that, pursuant to Article 4.11 of the Dispute Settlement Understanding, Mexico wishes to be joined in the consultations requested by Korea with the United States under Article XXII of GATT 1994 (document WT/DS89/1 of 11 July 1997), owing to Mexico's substantial trade interest in this matter.
