Description of content: The notified Resolution prohibits the entry of pig products into Peru through airports, seaports or border checkpoints, or carried in the accompanied baggage of passengers and crew from any country, with the aim of preventing the entry of the African swine fever (ASF) virus into the national territory.

Nature of the urgent problem(s) and reasons for urgent action: Taking account of the recent report of the presence of ASF in the Dominican Republic and the fact that passengers and crew arrive in Peru directly from, or after stopovers in, affected countries, thereby increasing the risk of entry of ASF into Peru, Directorial Resolution No. 0012-2021-MIDAGRI-SENASA-DSA has been issued, prohibiting the entry of pig products into Peru through airports, seaports or border checkpoints, or carried in the accompanied baggage of passengers and crew from any country, with the aim of preventing the entry of ASF into the national territory.
