Brief description of the Agreement:

The previous preferential trading relationship between the United Kingdom and Israel was governed by (i) the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement establishing an association between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the State of Israel, of the other part, as amended ("the EU-Israel Association Agreement"), (ii) the Agreement between the European Community and the State of Israel on Government Procurement and (iii) the Protocol to the EU-Israel Association Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (all together, the "EU-Israel Trade Agreements"). See document series: WT/REG110.

The Trade and Partnership Agreement between Israel, of the one part, and the United Kingdom of the other part ("the Agreement") is based on the EU-Israel Trade Agreements.

The Agreement establishes a free trade area for trade in goods, within the meaning of Article XXIV of the GATT 1994.

It covers trade in goods, including provisions on rules of origin, preferential tariffs and quotas. It also contains provisions on customs and trade facilitation, cooperation in conformity assessments, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, as well as government procurement. Finally, the Agreement replicates the institutional framework of the EU-Israel Trade Agreements with minor modifications.
