  24 May 2019

Dear Ambassadors/Permanent Representatives,

I am enclosing the latest version of the Evolving Table on Cotton Development Assistance (WT/CFMC/6/Rev.26) for review by Members in advance of the next Round of the Director‑General's Consultative Framework Mechanism on Cotton (DGCFMC).

The enclosed Evolving Table (ET) contains updates from Australia, Brazil, Canada, the European Union, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and the United States, as well as from ITC, UNCTAD and UNIDO. Also of particular significance is the support and contributions from Brazil, China, India and Pakistan on the platform of South-South Co‑operation.

Three new projects have been included under Part I on cotton-specific development assistance, whereas four projects have been completed. This has brought the total number of active projects to 28. As regards Part II on Agriculture and Infrastructure-Related Development Assistance, the number of active projects totals 43, reflecting the full disbursement and completion of 12 projects since the last revision of the ET.

Updates to Part III of the Evolving Table, which contains the coordinates of national cotton sector focal points established by beneficiaries have been received from Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad and Mali. I strongly encourage other beneficiaries to share updates under Part III.

I am also attaching the 18th version of the Table on Domestic Cotton Sector Reforms (WT/CFMC/21/Rev.17), reflecting new contributions from Burkina Faso, Cameroon and Mali.

The 31st Round of the DGCFMC will be held on 6-7 June 2019. The eleventh Dedicated Discussion of the Relevant Trade-related Developments on Cotton, chaired by Ambassador John Deep Ford, will take place on 4 June 2019.

The enclosed documents will form the basis for the 31st Round of Consultations of the DGCFMC, which will be chaired by DDG Alan Wm. Wolff on my behalf.

Yours sincerely,

                                                                           Roberto Azevêdo
