
The Taiwan WTO&RTA Center dedicates itself to research on WTO and RTA-related issues and to integrate research resources within Taiwan, with the aim of establishing an effective support system for government decision-making. The Center will also be working to raise awareness of WTO and RTA-related issues in Taiwan, and to cultivate expert manpower in the general field of WTO and RTA issues. The Center's main responsibilities include:
1. Undertaking research
commissioned by government agencies on issues relating to the WTO and RTA, as
well as bilateral and multilateral trade, in accordance with the needs of WTO and
RTA participation.
2. Working to raise public
awareness of WTO and RTA-related issues in accordance with the needs of WTO and
RTA participation, so as to build a consensus within Taiwan regarding such
participation.
3. Establishing a WTO and RTA
database and publication of works relating to the WTO and RTAs, so that the public
would have access to information relating to the WTO and RTAs and can thereby
gain a better understanding of WTO and RTA-related issues and of Taiwan's
participation within the WTO and RTAs.
4. Cultivating manpower for WTO/RTA
and international trade affairs, so as to improve the quality of all personnel
(both government and private sector) participating in WTO/RTA affairs.
5. Undertaking academic
exchange and collaborating with relevant research institutions in other WTO
member nations on behalf of Taiwan, so as to establish an international network
for academic research.
6. Undertaking other activities
as may be necessary to meet the needs of Taiwan's participation within the WTO.
