PHYTOSANITARY CERTIFICATE

COMMUNICATION FROM SRI LANKA

The following communication, received on 5 April 2018, is being circulated at the request of the Delegation of Sri Lanka.

1.  The Government of Sri Lanka hereby advises that the Department of Agriculture of Sri Lanka has adopted a new format for phytosanitary certificates, with a view to comply with higher security standards and ensure authenticity.

2.  A sample of the new phytosanitary certificate format is available at:

https://www.ippc.int/static/media/files/countrynews/2018/04/05/PSC_LK_1.pdf.

3.  The new phytosanitary certificate format is effective from 6 March 2018.

4.  For a certain period of time, both the previous and new phytosanitary certificate formats will be in circulation, as some are being processed and are in transit to destination countries. However, the date of issuance for the previous phytosanitary certificate should be a date prior to 6 March 2018.
