Department of Agriculture (DA) Memorandum Order (MO) No. 02, Lifting the Temporary Ban on the Importation of Domestic and Wild Birds and their Products Including Poultry meat, Day-Old Chicks, Eggs and Semen from Oostkamp and Menen in West Flanders, Belgium

The Department of Agriculture (DA) issued Memorandum Order (MO) No. 02, lifting the temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their products including poultry meat, day‑old chicks, eggs and semen from Oostkamp and Menen in West Flanders, Belgium. Based on the final report submitted by Dr Jean-Francois Heymans, Director, Animal Health and Safety of Products of Animal Origin, Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain in Bruxelles, Belgium to the World Organisation for Animal Health, the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) events in Oostkamp and Menen West Flanders, Belgium (per temporary banning order: DA MO No. 31, series of 2017) are now closed and resolved. Furthermore, based on the evaluation of the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), the risk of contamination from importing poultry and poultry products from Oostkamp and Menen in West Flanders, Belgium is negligible.
