Addendum
1 general
1.1. This document updates the Annual Report (2015) of the Council for
TRIPS, issued as document IP/C/71 on 29 October 2015. That Report included the
work of the Council up to the point when its end-of-year meeting was suspended
on 16 October. Subsequently, the Council resumed its end-of-year meeting to
continue its work on the agenda item on "Request for an Extension of the
Transitional Period Under Article 66.1 for Least Developed Country Members with
Respect to Pharmaceutical Products and for Waivers from the Obligation of
Articles 70.8 and 70.9". The
minutes of the end-of-year meeting will cover the reconvened meeting along with
the proceedings from 15-16 October, and will be circulated in documents
IP/C/M/80 and IP/C/M/80/Add.1.
2 request for an extension of the transitional period under article
66.1 for least developed country members with respect to pharmaceutical
products and for waivers from the obligation of articles 70.8 and 70.9
2.1. At its reconvened meeting on 6 November, the Council adopted a
Decision on the Extension of the Transition Period under Article 66.1 of the
TRIPS Agreement for Least Developed Country Members for Certain Obligations
With Respect to Pharmaceutical Products (IP/C/73).
2.2. The Council also agreed to recommend that the General Council adopt
a waiver Decision on Least Developed Country Members – Obligations Under
Article 70.8 and Article 70.9 of the TRIPS Agreement With Respect to
Pharmaceutical Products (IP/C/74).
