TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
Estonia donates EUR 20,000 to technical
assistance programme for developing countries
The government of Estonia has donated EUR 20,000
(CHF 24,400) to the WTO Doha Development Agenda Global Trust Fund for 2014.
This donation will finance a wide range of trade-related technical assistance
activities to help developing and least-developed countries (LDCs) to
participate effectively in the Doha round of negotiations and better integrate
into the world economy.
“Estonia’s generosity demonstrates its
commitment to help developing and least-developed countries benefit more fully
from the multilateral trading system and better integrate into the global
economy. I welcome this donation,” declared WTO Director-General Roberto
Azevêdo.
Estonia’s ambassador Jüri Seilenthal stated
that: “We see the Doha Development Agenda Global Trust Fund as an excellent
means for helping the developing and least-developed countries to improve their
capabilities in international trade. We gladly use the opportunity to
contribute for those who need the assistance the most”.
Since 2002, Estonia has donated to the WTO Trust
Fund a total of CHF 234,000.
