Report (2006) of the Committee on
Balance-of-Payments Restrictions
This report has been prepared pursuant to the Procedures for an Annual Overview of WTO Activities and for Reporting Under the WTO (WT/L/105).
The Committee met once on 23 October 2006 under the Chairmanship of Mr. Takehiro Kagawa (Japan).
The Committee held the fifth annual review under China's Transitional Review Mechanism in accordance with paragraph 18 of China's Protocol of Accession. The Chairman's Report to the General Council is contained in WT/BOP/R/83.
Under "Other Business", the Chairman recalled that, in accordance with the conclusions of the Committee in the consultations with Bangladesh on 29 November 2004, the Government of Bangladesh would be expected to provide a time table for the elimination of its remaining balance-of-payments restrictions and to consult with the Committee in the spring of 2007.
