INTRODUCTORY STATEMENT
presentation of the law on trademarks and geographical indications
Romania's first trademark Law was adopted in 1879. In 1967 it was replaced by Law No. 28.
The legal regime for trademarks is now governed by a new Law, Law No. 84 of 15 April 1998, published in the Official Journal No. 161 of 23 April 1998, which will enter into force on 23 July 1998.
